Who doesn't love pasta covered in cheese?! Well maybe not your keto guest, but most others love this. A reliable easy dish to put together with an essential pantry staple is pasta! Whether a salad, side or entree, pasta to the rescue!
This cheesy number starts with browning ground beef (turkey, chicken, or tofu can also be used) with onions and seasoning generously with salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and enough garlic to keep vampires away (jk)! This is a step not to be taken lightly, building flavor at every step makes the most impact in the final outcome of your recipes.
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 large onion, diced
1 tablespoon canola oil
salt, to taste
pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon oregano
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon paprika
one 28-ounce can pureed tomatoes, or your favorite sauce
12 ounces noodles
1/2 cup Parmesan, grated
1/2 cup mild cheddar, shredded
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1. Sweat the onions in the oil with a pinch of salt. Add the beef and cook it, breaking it up as you do. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Then add additional salt with the dry seasonings.
2. Add the tomatoes and bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 10-15 minutes.
3. Cook the noodles in boiling water till it’s al dente. Drain and combine with the tomato-beef mixture. Taste for seasoning.
4. Transfer half the mixture to your buttered baking dish. Cover this first layer with half of the cheeses then repeat layering one more time using remaining pasta topping with the cheese. Broil until the cheese is bubbly and enjoy!
